Iran in Wushu Championship quarterfinals Written by Press TV    Wednesday, 10 December 2008 15:03 Three Iranian athletes have advanced to the quarterfinals of the World Junior Wushu Championship currently held in Bali, Indonesia. Iran's Sajjad Abbasi, Akbar Moahammadzadeh and Ali Shir-Aghaie stormed into the sanshou quarterfinals on Wednesday. Abbasi managed to defeat his Brazilian rival in two consecutive rounds in the -70 kg category. In the 52 kg class, Moahammadzadeh beat his opponent from Azerbaijan in two consecutive rounds. Moreover, Shir-Aghaie gained a victory over the Russian wushu athlete Ivanov in the 56 kg group. Athletes from 43 countries are taking part in the Bali event which takes places from December 9 to 14. Wushu is a full-contact sport based on traditional Chinese martial arts. HRF/RA
