Iran in Wushu Championship quarterfinals

Three Iranian athletes have advanced to the quarterfinals of the World Junior Wushu Championship currently held in Bali, Indonesia.

Iran's Sajjad Abbasi, Akbar Moahammadzadeh and Ali Shir-Aghaie stormed into the sanshou quarterfinals on Wednesday.

Abbasi managed to defeat his Brazilian rival in two consecutive rounds in the -70 kg category.

In the 52 kg class, Moahammadzadeh beat his opponent from Azerbaijan in two consecutive rounds.

Moreover, Shir-Aghaie gained a victory over the Russian wushu athlete Ivanov in the 56 kg group.

Athletes from 43 countries are taking part in the Bali event which takes places from December 9 to 14.

Wushu is a full-contact sport based on traditional Chinese martial arts.
